New Zealand Federation of Commercial Fisherman
Promoting maritime safety awareness is a core component of The New Zealand Federation of Commercial Fishermen (Federation)'s activities. The Federation is therefore proud to be a longstanding supporter of the New Zealand Shipwreck Welfare Trust and the valuable financial assistance it provides to the whānau of those tragically lost at sea.
Each year, a fish n' chip dinner and live auction is held at the end of the Federation's annual conference, with generous donations raffled off to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Trust. In addition to being a great support to dependents of those lost at sea, recent developments have led the Trust to lend support to additional safety initiatives like MarineSAFE and Firstmate. These are vital industry-driven initiatives, and ongoing support from the Trust is truly appreciated.
